Hey there all my fellow WXW fans! Here we are with the final blog of the year. For anyone in the Leesburg area please remember that WXW has a show in town on the 19th of December which is their last official show of the year. I unfortunately can’t go due to lack of a babysitter! Which in some ways sucks as what happened during intermission set up a nice little match for that show but you’ll read all about that in this blog! So without further ado let’s dive right into what will be for me and the DWP the last WXW show we see this year!
First up we had two newcomers to the WXW at least as far as we know. First out was Juan Francisco who had by far the most boring entrance ever. The guy gave a good minutes wait after his music started till he even made a showing and then he just stood there, and stood there, and stood there. He probably waited another full minute before coming down to the ring, which really doesn’t sound long but if you watch WWE most of their entrances are over within 30 seconds. Finally he came down to where we were and walked SLOWLY around the ring taking the long way around to the stairs and then climbed into the ring. His entire way into the ring he had his nose in the air and was scowling. Looks wise I would give him a somewhat haughty bearing as though he thought he was royalty, reminiscent of what William Regal did in the WCW under the Lord Stephen Regal name. He obviously has some italian in him and it actually made me laugh because to me he reminded me of a person in a movie. If you have ever seen the movie Eurotrip this guy reminded me of the creepy guy in the train that kept trying to feel up the guys in the tunnels and would say “M’scuse!” when caught. Anyway next in and thankfully a lot faster in was Sebastian Cruz who compared to Juan Francisco was like a rocket on hyperspeed. Sebastian Cruz took to the ring with fast moves and a few acrobatics. The guy really livened up the crowd which was good since the first guy almost put us all to sleep. Once the action started it was pretty good, not out of this world but I certainly wasn’t complaining since I had never seen these guys before. Cruz stayed in control most of the time and at one point even had Francisco on his knees pleading for mercy (though that did end up being a ruse to trip Cruz and send him face first into the second turnbuckle). I have to admit though the ruse was very funny and had my wife and I laughing. It was a classic Ric Flair mercy move and Cruz looked out to us as though asking if he should attack. The audience all started chanting YES YES YES and so he moved in to attack and Francisco used that time to spring a trap at which point the chant turned from YES to NO NO NO. One thing I can certainly say about Francisco is that he had some great facial expressions especially his look of fear when the audience started chanting YES for Cruz to get him. All in all I wouldn’t mind seeing these two young men go at it again. In this case though Cruz ended up with a victory.
shock to us because we had never seen PRS in a match yet but we have seen him on the website for WXW and also I think it was CWE. On both websites PRS is wearing some sort of Black outfit and a golden mask so we were like “cool we’ll get to finally see what type of gimmick this mask and such is.” NOPE think again, we were expecting gold mask and black outfit and instead we get a non-masked latino guy dressed in the red white and blue colors of Puerto Rico. Then Gold Standard comes out and he’s just kinda there. He’s a young black guy in a blue wrestling outfit and nothing really stands out until he talks. He likes using his own name as an insult and he calls out to the crowd trying to get them in on it by pointing to himself and saying GOLD and then pointing to his opponent and yelling STANDARD. It was cute maybe the first time he said it but then he got annoying with it. You know how sometimes Bo Dallas will knock an opponent down with a simple move and then run a victory lap like he made a huge accomplishment…well that was how Gold Standard used his trash talking. Instead of pressing the attack when he got the upper hand he would stop to point at himself and yell GOLD and then point to his fallen foe (who had only taken a small itsy bitsy shoulder block) and then he yelled STANDARD. He made a huge thing out of simple moves that to be honest any novice could have pulled off in a ring and in the end I think that was one of his big downfalls as PRS ended up with the win pretty easily it seemed.
team of Big O and Tony Storm or as they are now calling themselves Big Storm! This time Diamond Kid didn’t have on his Nuyoricans gear probably since last time we saw him the gear led him to getting a beat down by D Ramos. Diamond Kid and Vinny Mac were wearing matching green though Vinnie was a normal wrestlers tights and a vest for his entrance, Diamond Kid was dressed like he was here from the bronx or the hood. Big O and Tony Storm had matching black gear covered in neon pink lightning bolts and looked pretty good together. It didn’t take too long into the match to see that the beating that D Ramos a few weeks ago didn’t diminish Diamond Kids attitude as he talked smack quite a bit once again. However his smack talking ended up getting the smackdown laid down upon him and it wasn’t too long before Big O and Tony Storm sent Diamond Kid running to his partner and literally hugging his partners knees to get away from the beating he was taking. Vinny was able to for a little bit get some momentum going but it was never really enough to change the tide of this battle and thus Big Storm came away with the win.
Dynamite Didi. We saw a bit of a change in Didi for this match as she had her lovely flame red tresses done up in a braid instead of hanging loose as usual and she wore a bodysuit that showed off the wonderful booty that gave it’s name to her move bootymania off to it’s best effect. She also had a cool lace cape as she walked down to the ring. As usual these ladies tore into each other. These young ladies always give it their all when they are in the ring and are just down right vicious. Didi made a great showing at first but then Raquel started going after Didi’s leg which had been injured a while back and had kept her from competing for a few months. It was an easy target and Raquel used it to make Didi scream many times. However much pain Didi was in though she came back and gave as good as she was getting slamming Raquel into the corner and then using her signature move Bootymania. Now I have mentioned this move in prior blogs but for those that don’t know it watch a WWE match with the Usos and when one of them has an opponent down they will run and when almost to the corner the opponent is in turnaround and fast moving butt to the face. Now imagine this move with a lovely womans ass coming at your face and hitting you but then instead of just hitting you that once that same ass smacks into your face 3 or 4 times, thats Bootymania! Towards the end of the match Regina came out and tried to interfere but Didi knocked her off the apron and got a win over Raquel by putting her into a submission move. At this point Regina got back into the ring and attacked Didi, then it was a double team of Regina and Raquel kicking and stomping on Didi. Regina moved off after a few moments and got a microphone and started in on some sort of rant much of which was drowned out by the crowd and the fact that a lot of times the mic’s are a bit spotty in this building. During her whole rant Raquel kept the pressure on Didi either stomping on her or putting her leg in one submission type hold after another. Eventually another woman ran to the ring it was Gabi Castrovinci, she had been on this year’s WWE Tough Enough and after being kicked from the show came to the WXW to train and be Ricky Santana’s personal assistant. Gabi made short work of Raquel and Regina which was made all the more impressive by the tight miniskirt she was wearing. How she moved to do some of those kicks in the skirt she had on I have no clue. She then helped Didi to stand and they left the ring together.
Before we could get to the next match we heard the music from a WXW great the one and only Sugaa. Last we saw him in the ring Sugaa had hung up his boots due to a brain aneurysm. The docs basically said if he hit his head too hard during a move or something that that could rupture and kill him and so he was not able to wrestle anymore. Well Sugaa came to the ring with a gym bag and called for Ricky Santana to come out. He told Ricky that he was bored just sitting around behind the scenes and he wanted to get back in the ring again though he knew he couldn’t wrestle. At this point the crowd started to chant LET HIM REF, LET HIM REF. Ricky said he wasn’t sure because there was no way Sugaa could take hits anymore and even being a ref was something that could get you banged up. At that point Alex G of the Prophecy came out and started to get into Sugaa’s face reminding him of the bad stuff Ricky had supposedly done to him that had caused Sugaa to lash out before his retirement. Then Alex started saying Sugaa was no better than a lap dog out there asking Ricky for a job. Ricky reached for Alex and then Alex hauled off and smacked Ricky sending him to the ground. Alex then lept onto Ricky and started to beat him up and within moments Nathan Vain and Reggie Rhythm were there to help in the beat down. Sugaa stayed in the corner obviously wanting to get in and help just as he had obviously wanted to smack the hell out of Alex when he had first come out but there was nothing he could do. Suddenly out of nowhere Nick Nero came racing in from outside lept over the guardrail and onto the top turnbuckle. Reggie seeing someone there turned and ended up the victim of Nero’s flying crossbody. Now no one expected this as it has been almost a year about since we have seen Nero as he had gone up to PA to do some wrestling. The cheers that the returning hero got were thunderous as he started to even up the odds a bit. Even then though it was two vs three and Ricky was basically out of it. Finally Sugaa picked up his gym bag threw aside a Ref’s shirt he had and a few other things and grabbed a protective helmet from the bag and put it on his head (At this point I bust up laughing because when the crowd started chanting let him ref my wife said “oh because that’s so much safer” and I just kinda muttered “well if he had a helmet” and sure enough he goes and pulls out a helmet). Helmet on head Sugaa moved in to take out the Prophecy with some vicious kicks and a few helmet assisted headbutts. Alex G was the last to fall after he foolishly tried to smack Sugaa upside the head and slammed his hand on the hard plastic of the helmet instead. They all start to head to the back and Ricky stops and says something about this being quite the night and that he had a lot to think about. The crowd starts cheering “We Want Sugaa” and Sugaa comes back out. He asks Ricky for a lifetime contract and Ricky looks to the fans who all start chanting YES and then nods and says Sugaa has a lifetime contract however they would see about the whole Ref business and if he says yes it will be done however Ricky says and no different since they don’t want Sugaa to get hurt.
to the actual wrestling matches. First up in the second half was a non-title cruiserweight match between one of my favorites in the WXW Ace Radic and a relative newcomer named Devin. This was quite an exciting match as both wrestlers have a very high energy somewhat high flying style. In fact for most of the match each one of them kept the match pretty even giving as good as they got and honestly I think it just came down to sheer luck as to when the match ended and how. I think they could have gone all night just those two exchanging blows and flying through the air defy gravity. At the end of the match we saw Ace try to deliver his signature finishing kick and missing by just a hair’s breadth as Devin ducks, Devin then followed through with the very same kick which connected to Ace and took him down for the 3 count giving Devin the win! Ace being the awesome champ he is got up and went to Devin and offered him his hand in good sportsmanship and Devin accepted.
months now ever since a mixed tag between Sean and Didi against Wildman Rojas and Regina. I wasn’t at that show but something went bad during the match and set Sean against Rojas as something more personal than a normal match. There were videos on youtube about fights backstage between Sean and Rojas and even Sean breaking into Rojas house. This all culminated at this show in a knock down drag out brutal street fight between the two men. This match ranged from the ring to all around the ring and even to outside the building for a few minutes. Chairs were used and abused during this fight as were the guard rails. At one point Rojas had Maluta tied up in the ropes but made the major mistake of taunting him with the chair before using it and it gave Maluta the moment needed to escape the ropes. There were so many times that both Maluta and Rojas should have been down and out but somehow they kept going. Eventually Maluta put Rojas through a table on the outside of the ring and then got him back into the ring and ended up beating him and thus Sean Maluta is the new WXW Television title holder!
(Update: Tonight as I add pictures to this blog the WXW had another show. It’s hitting me as I add these pictures because a few hours ago a friend who was able to make it to the show sent me a message on facebook to tell me that Wildman Rojas was injured at this last show. So Wildman if you’re reading this I want you to know that the thoughts, prayers and well wishes of all of the DWP especially my wife and I are being focused on you! Get well soon Rojas and know that the DWP is here for you if you need us.)
(Update 2: My wife woke me up today to say that there has been news from WXW that Rojas is starting to get feeling back in his legs and is expected to make a full recovery!!!! We are so very glad and relieved to hear this about our friend!)
what he saw as his heavyweight title belt. I felt kinda sorry for these two at first because they had to go after the Maluta vs Rojas street fight and I had no clue how they were going to match that much less try and top it. However these two managed to match it with a very exciting match that kept the fans cheering throughout. ERA came to the ring first and he waited until Jaxen came out and then he made his first move. He rushed Jaxen before he could get to the ring as his back was turned. He started to beat down Jaxen outside the ring slinging him into the guard rails and slamming him into the ring posts and such. Eventually he got Jaxen into the ring and stole his fur coat. He put on Jaxen fur coat causing Angelina Cruz to scream in rage even as she pulled Jaxen to safety and tended to him outside the ring. ERA pranced around the ring in Jaxen coat and even for a moment laid on the top turnbuckle the way Jaxen would. He then took the coat off and wiped his ass with it before throwing it to the outside and heading out after Jaxen. ERA got Jaxen back in the ring and the bell sounded finally officially starting the match. ERA kept going after Jaxen but finally made a few mistakes and Jaxen was able to finally dish out some of what ERA did in the beginning. From that point on the match was a great back and forth with each person giving their all in the ring. Though no weapons were used in this match at least not up to this point I should say the match was as good as the previous street fight. For once the girls were relative angels during a match with only Angelina taking one slap at ERA when the ref’s back was turned. However as the match progressed it seemed that the initial beating had taken it’s toll on Jaxen and ERA was on his way to the top turnbuckle to possibly leap his way into holding the title yet again. However Angelina Cruz ducked under the ring at that moment and came up with a pretty makeup purse of some kind jumped up on the stairs and whacked ERA in the back with it. ERA fell from the top rope like a ton of bricks which will become a bit ironic in a second. My wife seemed shocked that ERA was out cold from being hit with a purse and I reminded her that it all depends on what’s in the purse. At this point the ref DQ’s Jaxen but titles don’t change hands on DQ’s so he is still the heavyweight champ. The crowd was having a fit, well all except for my wife and I and maybe 2 other people who don’t really like ERA. The lovely Angelina Cruz decided to show the crowd what was in the bag as she left with Jaxen Blade and it turned out to be…a brick! The crowds booing got louder if that was possible and they started chanting Cruiserweight at Jaxen as he had left that title not too long before to chase after the heavyweight title. I found that chant to be a bit funny though considering if you really went by weight classes ERA is also a cruiserweight and only got a shot at the heavyweight title in the first place by winning a tournament that gave him a contract to do such, kind of like WWE’s Money in the Bank and in this case it let a cruiserweight get hold of a heavyweight title. In my opinion Jaxen was just following in ERA’s footsteps and went through an open door that ERA never closed behind him.
