Draxis Comic Review: War for the Planet of the Apes

As many of you know, with going back to school and various other real life things, this past week has been busy as hell for many of us. That’s why last week’s reviews are being posted in the beginning of this week. I hope you loyal readers will forgive such. Anyway, this week we have 3 reviews and if you have stuck with us this long you are here for number 3, congrats! This review comes from Bearded Browncoats Comics and Gaming in Ocala Florida. Bearded Browncoats has a ton of board games and classic video games as well as a great selection of new and back issue comics. If you’re looking for good board games or classic video games this is certainly the place to go. As always, the top banner will contain a link to their facebook and the bottom banner to their website so feel free to drop by and see what they have to offer!

This review will be based on the first of a four issue limited series for War for the Planet of the Apes. This is a prequel for the upcoming movie in the Planet of the Apes franchise. This is a cool little tie in with an added bonus for any locals reading this review. There are a few panels in this comic that take place in Ocala Florida! How cool is it to have your own town in a comic book?

Anyway, this comic is a cool little lead up for the movie, and I can’t wait to see what the other three have in store for us. From some good shots of apes around the US going after humans, to a reason why the war may be escalating, to things starting to heat up in Atlanta with biological research, this comic is filling in some areas that may have been considered plot holes otherwise to the overall storyline.

Seeing how this comic is a prequel and a between movie comic for a major popular franchise, I am expecting this to become a collectors edition comic. The good news is that Bearded Browncoats has ordered more of them, so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, head on down to their store and get your name on the list so that they can hold it for you when it comes in. Collectors will love this and collectors from Ocala will love it even more! The comic is first rate in my opinion as it offers good info, wonderful art, and an interesting story. Highly recommended from the DWP crew!

Sound off in the comments below! How did you like the comic? Are you looking forward to the next installment in the movie franchise? We love hearing from our readers so let us know your thoughts!
