Game Review: Dragon Friends Green Witch

So here we are ready to bring you another in depth review of a game that the DWP family is playing on our kindle and android devices. This time it is a game called Dragon Friends: Green Witch. Let me start this off by saying I completely LOATHE farming games and animal collection games like Farmville and such. I stay away from them like the plague, and yet when I saw this one I said “Hey this has dragons…I’ll try it.” To tell the truth I have yet to regret my decision to try it!

So to start off with, this game has your typical layout for the farm games. In this case you have a nice sized island with some people on it and either one of them or maybe all of them I didn’t quite get it are called Shy. Shy is like the main person in any farm game: perky, happy, and annoying as hell! However, Shy is the one that gives you quest after quest after quest so honestly I can’t get too mad at ’em no matter how many times he perkily asks me to spend my hard earned coins. Now add to this buildings that create coins and other items, plots of land to farm things in, and a breeding area for both dragons and other creatures, and you have a pretty typical farm game.  So why do I like this so much? One word:

DRAGONS!!!!

That’s right, as the name suggested this game has dragons – surprise surprise – but that’s what makes it cool to me.  There are a TON of dragons to collect and they are pretty cool looking. Some are fearsome looking creatures and some are cute little things. The fact remains though there are a ton of dragons, then for the really OCD people to go crazy with there are multiple colors of each dragon! Thankfully I’m not the type that needs each color or I may drive myself crazy.There are several different ways to get dragons, the first of which is to buy their eggs from the store. There are 3 main currency types but only two of them are used to buy Dragon Eggs that I have seen, the first is gold coins which you can use to easily buy the main dragons for each basic element type. The other type of currency you can use to buy dragon eggs is the GEM, like in many of these games the gems are seldom put into your inventory except for when winning quests and even those seem few and far between, these are bought with real money if you truly need to use them to buy something which can get very expensive very quickly which brings me to our better option for gaining mixed element dragon eggs.

BREEDING! Have you ever wondered what might happen if you were to breed an electric dragon with a rock dragon? Well now you can find out because in this game you can do just that and see what happens! In this game you can breed two single element dragons to get a 2 element and then start building off of that all the way to a 4 element dragon! Just a hint, breeding can also be done for animals too, so feel free to breed together your dogs or sheep and see if you can gain a new color of them to put in your collection book.

I did however say there were three main ways to get dragon eggs, the third way is to win one in the lucky wheel game they have. This is your typical spin the wheel to get a daily prize that most games seem to have lately. Right now they have a Memorial Day egg in the spin though I don’t know if this will change out or not through the year. So those are the main ways to get dragon eggs I have also gotten them through the login bonus at the end of a 30 day period and we just received one for the game getting 50k likes on facebook, so there are a few other ways.

Another interesting twist in this game is that the extra little things you create in your buildings other than money isn’t something you can sell off like in farms games. Instead these things are things you can use to create spells. Spells can do anything from creating gold and gems, to adding more slots for ingredients to your spell holders, to letting you spin the lucky wheel without paying for it, to giving you a higher chance at getting the dragon you wished on a certain mating. These can be quite handy at times; however you only have limited space to hold these recipe pieces so every so often you may have to empty some of them out to make room for some ingredients you really need.

While we are on the subject of magic, you can also cast magic on your animals and dragons after leveling them up all the way. I hesitate to mention this part because I truly am not sure on what this magic does. What I do know is it seems kinda random to me and it has nothing to do with the spell book or components you collect from buildings. Now by casting magic I have had dragons become dogs, dogs become dragons, cows become cats, dogs or dragons taking on new colors from the collection book, and other random events have happened… so as you can see there is a LOT that can happen with the magic!

MONEY!

In this game there are 3 different types of currency. You have Gold Coins which can buy Dragons, Buildings, Island Upgrades, and Animals/Decorations. Hearts can be used to buy Animals. You also have Gems that can be used for most of the things that Coins can be used for but not for things that Hearts can be used for! Gold and Hearts can be gotten from buildings and dragons and working for your friends and just about with everything you can do in the game. Gems are mainly found in the daily log in, quests and can also be bought with real money therefore using Gems to buy things can be a bit expensive. Gems are also used to speed up timers!

Community:

In this game you have a list of friends many of which are found in game due to suggestions by the game.  I suggest making as many friends as you can. The reason behind this is you can help your friends and by helping them you get rewarded too. You can get hearts by taking care of a friend’s crops, you can get gold and xp from working at a friend’s building. You also get bonuses from friends coming and working on your buildings, taking care of your crops and blessing your breeding dragons. You can also Bless your friends dragons which speeds up breeding and hatching times.

All in all I highly recommend this game for any lover of Dragons and Animal Collector games!
