Today we’re coming at you with a great comic review as well as a huge thank you to one of the stores that sponsors these comic reviews. As many of you may know from the health blogs and other blogs on here, I am a cancer survivor. In 2015, I had Kidney Cancer which was surgically removed along with my Kidney and Adrenal Gland. The next year I started my own Team for Relay for Life and began to raise money for the fight against Cancer! Our local comic shops have been great in supporting me these past few years in both the Relay and by sponsoring this idea I had for these reviews. This year has been no different, so we would like to give a HUGE thank you to Vibranium Comics and Games in Ocala Florida for sponsoring us in the Relay for Life. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate that here. So make sure to give Vibranium some lovin by clicking the banner above and viewing their facebook page or the banner at the end to view their website.
Today we are bringing you a cool little comic that Vibranium put into our hands. Once again they have hit the ball out of the park with this one. So without further ado let’s announce what we’re reviewing which will be Labyrinth: Coronation #1.
Now I am a huge fan of the Jim Henson things from muppets to sesame street to Dark Crystal and onwards so to see this was pretty awesome in the first place and I was not disappointed. Right now the Jim Henson company is getting a lot of light on its older properties as Dark Crystal is showing in certain theaters just last week and a new Dark Crystal show is being made for Netflix so it doesn’t surprise me that Labyrinth is also being looked at.
Now just a warning to you since an old friend of mine would not touch this book with a ten foot pole for one reason alone… This IS a Prequel to the movie. If for some reason you have an irrational hatred of prequels like he does then stay away. If you’re like me though and would like to know the backstory of Jareth then by all means get to your comic shop and get this NOW. I really can’t say much about the comic without giving things away but it takes place during the movie when Jareth has baby Toby. In this he started to tell Toby a story and its the story of how he ended up taken by the Goblins and becoming their king! Of course it’s not finished in just this one book, so I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of Jareth’s Story as right now it tells mainly of the parents and how he fell to the Goblins and then ends there. How he became their king and how he grew up is sure to come next.
If you get the chance to read this gem of a comic, please let us know what you think in the comments below! We always love hearing from our readers so make your voice heard and sound off in the comments.
